Fashionville – Modelkowo by Katarzyna Winek and Karolina Żesławska is a short documentary created in 2011. The film offers an insight into modeling profession and fashion shows which for most people are accessible only from the viewers point of view. The Model Team, which worked at the fair in St. Gallen OFFA in April 2011, consisted of seventeen people. Behind scenes, models communicated in more than ten languages. Besides the most widely used languages such as German and English, other languages were in use such as Polish, Slovak, Czech, Portuguese, Turkish, Serbian, Russian and various Austrian and Swiss dialects. This multilingualism led to interesting findings during work, many amusing situations but no actual awkwardness due to so many languages were spoken. In the end, however, this linguistic diversity turned out to be an obstacle on the way to effective communication.

Katarzyna WINEK graduated from media design and inter-media art & science at the University of Applied Sciences Vorarlberg in Austria. Since 2012 she has been working as a graphic and multimedia designer in Zurich.

RePlay. Amateur Filmmakers Tell Stories – Who was an amateur filmmaker? What was filmed? Why, how and when was it filmed? Which occasions were captured on film stripes and which memories are arising while watching these films?
Based on these questions the film RePlay reconsiders private films from the 1960s, the 1970s and the early 1980s. Memories captured on 8 mm film are evidence of ordinary and special occurrences. They show family stories, changes, history, attitudes, feelings, life in every possible way.
On the basis of a chosen collection of film stocks from four film enthusiasts from Dornbirn – a small city in western Austria –, amateur films are exemplarily analysed in respect to narration, intention, camera handling, reception and their reminder function. The objective is to ensure a preservation of the cultural heritage of the film.
