Part of “Heroines of Sound Festival“
The panel on “Visible Music”, the focus of this year’s festival, will discuss different forms of visualizing music such as combining image and sound, performance, light and movement. An extra highlight of the festival is the evening-length concert by Ensemble KNM Berlin. Presenting two German premieres by Katharina Rosenberger and the young American composer Jessie Marino. Rosenberger’s modules for amplified tenor saxophone, electric guitar, percussion and piano with effects pedals, Marino’s The Whale is a Capital Fish for performer, electronics and video as well as current works, by Juliana Hodkinson and Ana Maria Rodriguez expanding the classic set-up into kinetic. Alongside the world premiere of MFTT #3A by Wilde & Hülcker for voice, movements and video playback dedicated to the dog Archi, commissioned by Heroines of Sound to the renowned artist Neo Hülcker and Antonia Baehr. The evening will round off with Marta Zapparoli’s solo performance Sonata Per Eterna during which electronics will be joined by cassette recorders and tape machines.
