Once in a lifetime, if ever, you find a record that is almost unknown and yet not only on top of its genre, but completely over the top of it. One of those rare occasions is offered by The Mount Olivet Inspirational Choir’s LP “In Due Time” (1976): it’s so funky and soulful that you’ll want to convert to their church, whatever religion it might be. The music sounds like God himself served as a patron, and so it is presented here just as it was, carefully chosen and ready for the dancefloor—to do it the churchy way . . .
