DI2a is a virtual occupation that takes place weekly on the YouTube channel PINK UMBRELLAS ART RESIDENCY created by the duo MXM.
Every Monday at 5pm São Paulo time (GMT-3) - artists from different areas propose an artistic experience, exploring different formats in order to subvert their “common place” in the face of this online space, which during the period of social isolation (or even later), establishes itself as dominant for many people in the world.

The idea is accomplished as an artistic occupation in the online format, whose purpose resumes original ideals of freedom, networks of contact, inventiveness and exchange of knowledge. We suggest new partnerships between different areas and countries in which these ideals can be found by the desire to test other possible artistic manifestations, highlighted in predefined formats, which we already know on the networks, such as lives or even in the registration template. We seek, mainly at this moment, to see the internet as an alternative to an experimental space for contemporary art.

In this artistic occupation, we also launched a critical occupation named CRITICAL VISIONS, where we have the presence of art critics in its various segments, invited to contribute to the construction of this collaborative place, sharing their reflections with the artists and the public regarding the works presented on the channel and their possible notes. Every two months the channel publishes the views of new invited critics. In addition, every Friday at 5pm (GMT-3), the digital magazine ANTROPOSITIVO publishes CRITICAL INVASION on the channel, reflecting the artist’s work posted on the previous Monday, with a critical text and image feedback inspired by each artist’s work.

The curatorial proposal, in addition to carrying out all this reflection, places the guideline of a common link for creation among all artists invited to this occupation. The deepening of subjective communication is one of the purposes in which it seeks to reach the public through stimulating the senses and perceptions of the artistic experiments produced, as well as establishing a network of partnerships between artists from different areas.

This occupation is aimed at unusual partnerships between artists of all languages, art critics and curators invited to rethink collaborative creation in a more horizontal, interdependent way that seeks to understand the Internet environment as an expanded space for experimentation and artistic performance.

MIRELLA BRANDI is a light artist and and MUEP ETMO is a musician, composer and sound engineer. Together since 2006, they explore the narrative capacity as well as the perceptual transformation of light and sound in installations and immersive performances. As a curators they always try to offer spaces for collaborative creation between different fields, with the common goal of uniting thoughts and people and experiencing less recognized and more unified places.
